Plots[]
Sticking Point[]
Garfield, wanting to watch television, shoos Odie away for wanting him to play stick. Eventually, Garfield concedes, and having done so, he returns to find a newscaster reporting on a strange spacecraft in the vicinity, which Garfield labels as ridiculous. However, this spacecraft is actually real. The ship has sustained damage during a meteor shower, thus forcing the pilot, Snazz, to crash land on Earth. Meanwhile, Odie, unable to find the stick, finds the power rod snapped off from the spaceship, and takes it home. Snazz, realizing it is gone, is instructed by his commandment to find it at once, warned of the devastation it could bring in the wrong hands.
Back home, Garfield, annoyed by both Odie, as well as Jon practicing accordion, grabs the rod from Odie in frustration. Hungry, he wishes to himself that Vito would bring him a pizza; out of thin air, Vito appears with the pizza as do a number of other pizzas Garfield wishes for. Garfield again wishes to himself, this time that Jon be transported somewhere else. His wish is granted yet again, with Jon transported to the Arctic. Meanwhile, Snazz tracks down Garfield, and is ordered to destroy the power rod's energy feed.
While Garfield is walking past, Snazz shoots the rod with his Beta-ray. The shot skims the carbon emulsifier, unintentionally causing the rod to go out of control, and by extension, Garfield to fly through the air. Snazz, using his jetpack, follows Garfield and convinces the latter to give up the power rod through wishing them back in time. Time resets to the beginning of the story, with Snazz flying off, satisfied with the outcome.
Down for the Count[]
Walking past a candy store, Liz finds Jon attempting to count the number of jelly beans in a jar from outside the store. The owner tells her that anyone who can give the exact total of jelly beans will win five hundred dollars.
Meanwhile, Garfield is being chased by a hot dog salesman for stealing nineteen hot dogs and a knackwurst, bumping Jon in the process. Garfield hides using a trenchcoat from a store mannequin, and is almost able to point the hot dog salesman towards the wrong direction until the owner of the fashion store exposes him. Garfield bumps Jon again while climbing to hide in a tree. Under Garfield's weight, the branch gives way, and he falls onto the hot dog stand, causing it to move downhill. The stand hits a puddle, thereby ruining a woman's designer dress, it bumps into Jon, and eventually, it crashes into a lamp post.
Jon, enraged, shouts about the impossibility of the task and that he's giving up. Garfield, having good sense for edible items, writes Jon a note claiming that there are specifically 3,488 jelly beans. The candy store owner announces that that is the correct number and awards Jon the prize. Before he can celebrate, the hot dog salesman takes money for the food and cart, the fashion store owner for the ruined coat, and the woman for her ruined designer dress, ultimately leaving Jon with one dollar, but Garfield content with the jar of jelly beans.
