Plantilla:Infobox Book Aliens vs. Predators: Rift War is a 2022 novel written by Yvonne Navarro and Weston Ochse, and published by Titan Books. It was released on September 6, 2022.

As well as standard print editions, the novel was released in audiobook format that was narrated by Kate Rudd and published by Blackstone Audio.

Publisher's Summary[]

When the Predators choose LV-363 for a hunt and seed it with Xenomorph eggs, the result is bizarre alien hybrids and humans trapped between the Predators and their prey.

The planet LV-363 teems with exotic life, including a plant growing in the shadows of its deep rifts. The plant’s flower yields a valuable narcotic, and people are forced by the cartels to harvest it. When a Yautja (Predator) ship arrives for a hunting ritual, the Predators seed the rifts with Xenomorph eggs. The aliens emerge and the result is bizarre and deadly hybrids, with humans trapped between the Predators and their prey. These deadly Xenomorph hybrids—some of which possess the ability to fly—swarm out of control and may prove more than either the Yautja or the humans can defeat.

Plot[]

LV-363 was a nearly uninhabited planet, teeming with exotic flora and fauna, which made it a desirable location for a group of alien hunters, who called themselves Yautja, to perform their latest blooding ritual. Coincidentally, the planet had also been exploited for years by human drug cartels for its rare, yet never-ending supply of Khatura, a flowering plant that yielded a very potent and highly profitable narcotic.

Audiobook[]

Blackstone Audio produced an unabridged audiobook of Aliens vs. Predators: Rift War that was narrated by Kate Rudd. The audiobook runs for 11 hours and 30 minutes and was released on August 16, 2022.

Trivia[]

  • Rift War will arguably be the first stand-alone Alien vs. Predator novel in over two decades — the preceding novel, Alien vs. Predator: Armageddon, was part of the Rage War crossover that included the novels Predator: Incursion and Alien: Invasion (although it could be argued that, despite their disparate titles, all three novels were in fact a single over-arching Alien vs. Predator story). Thus the last AVP novel to stand on its own and bear no connection to any of the other lines in the universe was Aliens vs. Predator: War, published in December 1999.
  • While the story's in-universe chronology is purposely withheld, the weapons used by characters throughout the novel place the story sometime in or after the late 22nd century. There is also the mention of "a long forgotten asteroid war" as well as Old Earth, which is a possible indication of the Xenomorph infestation of Earth as seen in Aliens: Earth Hive.
